Internet and Email Safety for Students
Ensuring student safety when using email or the internet is an important dimension for all educators and parents. Students must understand that while the opportunity to learn via the internet is vast, there are also ways to stumble into areas that can be harmful or dangerous.
Students must learn not to post revealing personally identifying information about themselves. They need secure and private passwords, which they do not share. They need to report to an adult any behaviors that don’t look right to them and to ignore any requests that seem intrusive or unusual. They also must know that what they post or email can be viewed by others, regardless of their intention for it to be private.
